The school year has started and we have been studying English for several weeks already. The 3rd graders have had their first “real” English lessons. It has been exciting but at the same time, learning a new language has shown its challenges. How can it be that the words are written and pronounced so differently? This has been a question often asked by the children. And this is also one of the big challenges when it comes to studying English. For the other pupils English language is already familiar, but learning a language well, always requires a lot of work, so hopefully we'll have energy for that!
During the first weeks we have been concentrating on the basic issues, we have gone through the texts in the study books, we have had several word tests already and we have revised some grammatical issues during the classes. Now it is time for the first exams. Next week on the 6th of October the 4th, 5th and 6th graders will have their first exam. For the 3rd graders the first bigger exam will be held bit later, on the 11th of October. After the exams, its time for the pupils to hold presentations. And maybe write something to the English blog as well. We’ll see what can can come up with :)
